Tesla recently announced its long-anticipated Cybertruck at an event in California. The presentation was as extravagant as the vehicles unusual shape. You can’t deny that it’s like no other vehicle on the market. But looks aside, the truck does possess some serious power.
During the show, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the Cybertrucks solid shell by having someone take a sledgehammer to it without effect. Not even a ding!
Then, a few days later, he Tweeted a video showing the Cybertruck effortlessly pulling a tethered Ford F-150 pickup as it tried to escape⦠and uphill nonetheless! He noted that maybe people had to “see it to believe it.”
Of course, the stunt has raised some eyebrows because Ford’s F-Series has been the USA’s best-selling trucks for over 40 years now. It’s definitely an impressive undertaking.
In the video, you see the tires of the F-150 spinning out almost instantly, buckling to the electric pickup’s raw power and superior traction. You can’t tell from the video; however, what kind of tires were being used in the test.
Anyway, if the towing capacity of the Cybertruck is more than 14,000 pounds as stated by Tesla, then that is more than a top-of-the-line 2020 F-150 can tow, which is only up to 13,200 pounds. So, you can blame it on the tires or whatever, but the numbers tell the tale.
The Cybertruck is the company’s sixth vehicle since 2003 when Tesla was founded. It’s the most experimental of them all. According to Elon Musk, there have been over 250,000 orders placed for one already.
