12-Year-Old JSS1 Kid ‘Admitted’ into Nigerian University

Date:

As an auditor student, a 12-year-old girl named Miss Jessica Okonye has been granted “admission” to the Admiralty University of Nigeria in Ibusa, Delta state. According to school instructors, Jessica, a JSS1 student, demonstrated a remarkable level of intelligence. She was first discovered by Professor (Chief) John Alizor, a retired professor from an American institution who became the young girl’s mentor.

How It All Began

Jessica is said to have surprised the retired American University Professor as an intern at a shop. He immediately became intrigued by her extraordinary intelligence, giving her academic assignments daily, and began mentoring her. She eventually received academic tasks from the professor and was admitted to the “auditorship admission” due to this relationship. However, before being granted “admission,” Jessica interacted with the university administration, who reportedly thought highly of her academic abilities.

Professor Paul Omojo Omaji, the university’s vice-chancellor, issued the following statement on the institution’s Facebook page:

“Jessica is a brilliant child. Pending when further checks on Jessica’s ability to cope with the rigors of being a university student without the completion of her post-primary education are concluded, ADUN can admit her into the school as an auditor.”

What is An Auditor Student?

Professor Paul Omaji explained that, in this case, an auditor is a person who has been “admitted” to attend university lectures without necessarily intending to graduate with certificate awards. If Jessica completes this stage and receives full admission, she will be the first Nigerian to be admitted into a Nigerian university at such a young age. “Jessica has come to the right place as the first choice centre for her academic pursuit as leadership is the central focus of our institution,” the Professor added.

Other Accomplishments by Young Nigerian Women This Year

A Nigeran woman named Islamiyat Ojelade was admitted to seven US universities for her Ph.D. Many were shocked that Ojelade only holds a Higher National Diploma (HND). She gained admission without completing her master’s degree, and all scholarships were fully funded.

Ogunjobi Moyinoluwa Adekemi, a Nigerian teenager, received outstanding scores in her WAEC and UTME exams in 2022. Ogunjobi received A’s on eight of her papers and one B. The intelligent 15-year-old girl had the words “Yes, I can” taped to her table as inspiration to keep working hard to achieve her goal.

An exclusive mail sent to Legit.ng about Ogunjobi read:

“She was determined to succeed with the “YES I CAN” mantra posted on her reading table as a reminder. She’s been the overall best student in her school (Home Science Association Secondary School, Alakuko, Lagos State) since JS1.”

The email emphasized that Ogunjobi earned seven A’s in the 2021 WAEC. But that wasn’t all. She sat for UTME that same year and achieved an exceptional score of 351.
