As it turns out there’s a special type of banana that’s not only blue but also tastes like vanilla ice cream. Pretty amazing, I know.
The Blue Java banana originated from South East Asia and spread through continents such as Northern Australia, Hawaii, Central America, and Fiji. It is also known as the ice cream banana, Cenizo, and Hawaiian banana.
These bananas are grown primarily in South Asia and can survive some of the most extreme environments. They can even grow at temperatures below freezing point, but usually, require a minimum of 40°F (4.4°C) for optimum growth.

How To Grow Blue Java Bananas
Here’s how to grow it, if you’re not in South Asia:
Make sure that the area where you plant it gets enough sunlight & rain. They can grow up to 20 feet, so it is advised that you have available space where they can grow without restraint. Also, make sure that the roots are able to grow deep into the soil, otherwise, they rot.
They need to be watered daily with plenty of water and they need to be fertilized. Use can use NPK fertilizer in a ratio of 3:1:6 and apply it once a month. Keep in mind, that in order for the fertilizer to be soaked deep in the plant’s soil, you must mix it with water then pour it on. As your plant grows more, you can increase the amount of fertilizer you apply.
As they grow, make sure to provide them with plenty of sunlight and get rid of any shoots because they will suck nutrients from the fruit. It takes 9 months for the plant to grow in its entirety. If you start to lose patience just keep in mind that some plants take 15 years to bear fruit, so 9 months is not so long.
You will know once the bananas are ready to be picked from the tree because they turn thick and blue.
Health Benefits

Even the leaves are useful. They can be used in place of aluminum foils since they can withstand polarized temperatures.
