Design student Henry K. Wein, from the Design Academy Eindhoven, has created a unique, adaptable camping solution dubbed Tree Trailer that can be easily transported to provide shelter anywhere. Tree Trailer is essentially a treehouse and a camper combined in the smallest form possible.
This one-person treehouse is a house on wheels like no other. It can be towed effortlessly behind a motorcycle or a bicycle. When the time comes to set camp, suspend the tree trailer on any available solid tree branch with the trunk acting as additional support. When mounted to a tree, it offers an elevated sleeping spot that brings individuals closer to nature.
Wein built the Tree Trailer from repurposed parts; the covering is made out of a salvaged house blind, and the rest of it is made from wood and a supporting metal beam. The portable treehouse comes with a fixed glass window on top and opening windows on the sides, providing air circulation and a fresh breeze. The interior is relatively small, with only enough space to toss and turn during sleep, but it’s much better than setting camp on the ground, where bugs and insects can easily crawl on you.
Henry plans to improve the Tree Trailer to make it more durable and worthy of long adventurous trips. Some of these improvements may include closing off the front section with some doors to avoid dust, sand, or dirt from entering the sleeping area. Having a pop-up-style camper version would also be great.
