Wetherspoon, a pub chain founded in 1979 that now operates 874 pubs in the UK and Ireland, will be selling Beyond Meat vegan burgers, instead of Meatless Farm ones, in all of its branches as of March 11, 2020.

Head of Food at Wetherspoon’s Jameson Robinson said:

We are always on the lookout for new and innovative products, to bring further choice and quality to our customers. Our Beyond burger offers a great new option for vegans and vegetarians, as well as anyone wishing to reduce their meat intake, which is an ever-growing number.

The high-profile food business began selling UK-based Meatless Farm burgers back in October 2019. It is switching to California-based Beyond Meat plant-based burgers because their patties are not only vegan-friendly, but they are also free of gluten, soy, and GMOs, which makes them accessible to a broader range of customers. This kind of awareness to detail is why the eatery has received awards for its plant-based offerings.

Bram Meijer, Beyond Meat’s regional marketing director for EMEA, said:

We’re on a mission to help more people eat more of the foods they love while enjoying the benefits of plant-based protein. We’re excited to secure our biggest listing to date and to introduce Wetherspoon customers to the delicious taste and texture of the Beyond Burger.

The starting price will be £6.45 (for the classic version) with a soft drink or £7.45 with an alcoholic beverage.
