Dacia has revealed the first look at the affordable Spring electric concept vehicle that they plan on releasing in Europe in 2021. The Spring’s design is based on Renault’s K-ZE and aims to be the most affordable SUV in Europe.
All I could think of when I saw this sporty compact SUV was my favorite pair of Jordan basketball shoes, the VII from 1992. Though the colors are different, the way the orange accents the vehicle’s silver curves make for an attractive vehicle, much like the Jordans’ black with red trim.

Dacia has yet to release specs for the vehicle, though they are claiming the Spring model will have a range of around 200km (125 miles). While that may not sound like much, the Spring is designed with the city and affordability in mind.
The press release from Groupe Renault is calling the Dacia Spring, “the affordable electric revolution”! By focusing on simplicity and reliability, Dacia looks to bring sustainable mobility to the city. The 100% all-electric 4 seat vehicle is a light and compact SUV with 5 door accessibility.
In the release Dacia talks about setting trends with the Spring:
The Dacia Spring electric show car is a truly electrifying electric city car that is here to set new trends. The pastel mouse grey body is enhanced with matte splashes of fluorescent orange, with trim along the wings, roof bars, and lower door panel, extra high clearance, skid plates built into the front and rear bumpers. Its assertive SUV style and compact dimensions make it the ideal vehicle for everyday use with guaranteed peace of mind.
They will also pay special attention to the Spring’s lighting. The rear of the vehicle will feature a new easily recognizable “double-Y” effect, using four full-LED taillights. The LED front headlights will also get a new look with a thin horizontal upper section and 3 LED “graphic features” built into each side of the bumper below. These unique lighting effects will mark the future look of Dacia’s brand identity.
They also point out in the company press release, low maintenance requirements:
With its all-electric engine and battery adapted for everyday use, the Dacia Spring meets the practical needs of urban and suburban mobility. It is a robust vehicle that gives private and fleet car owners the full range of benefits of electric vehicles: ease of driving, silent operation, no vibrations, zero-emissions, etc. Moreover, it is simple to charge and takes very little maintenance.
While we are going to have to wait for the full specs and pricing of this vehicle, I think it’s okay for Europe to get excited about this new electric Spring. I would think this will have a great appeal to people who want to reduce emissions at an affordable price. The 2021 release gives people time to save up some money, so next year, they can be driving around ‘in a pair of Jordans’!
