FedEx is the largest shipping and transportation company in the world. Now, the company is showing the world they are more than just an excellent service, but a good heart too. Over the past five years, FedEx has transformed old uniforms into blankets for donation. The program has benefited over 20 institutions and 8,000 people since its launch.
This year the number of uniforms collected at the branches was 17% more than the previous year. The goal is to increase that number each year. So far, 2700 blankets have been made, of which 2000 are intended for people in need, and 700 are specifically to heat shelter animals.

The project’s environmental impact should be highlighted since recycling prevents the uniforms from getting to landfills and oceans. Retalhar, a company specializing in projects for the correct destination of the uniforms, claims that FedEx prevented releasing 62 tons of greenhouse gases this year by recycling the uniforms.
In 2017, the University of Southhampton surveyed the importance of investing in social causes. The researchers found that companies that invest in social causes have a higher productivity level. This advantage is just one of the many benefits of becoming a socially responsible company.
The legislation provides social impact and the highest perceived value and offers sales to companies that invest in social causes. For example, the Brazilian government offers tax incentives, like income tax education.
Do you think more companies should be doing this kind of thing? What do you think about companies that do?
