MG Is Supplying 100 Electric Vehicles To Healthcare Workers For Free

Date:

British automaker MG is contributing to the coronavirus pandemic support by supplying healthcare workers with its ZS EV electric crossovers. While other car companies are making ventilators, MG decided to provide a means of transportation. It donated 100 vehicles to the National Health Service (NHS) locations around the United Kingdom.

The vehicles will be issued to healthcare workers who are needed to aid the large influx of those who have contracted the COVID-19 illness.

MG calls the workers heroes and sees the vehicles as a way to say thank you to the people risking their lives to fight the overwhelming battle against coronavirus.

The deal is not permanent, however. MG is providing them for up to six months, or until the crisis blows over. Nevertheless, half a year of free electric driving is something to be happy about!

Daniel Gregorious, MG Motor UK Head of Sales and Marketing, said in the press release announcing the donation:

We want to do our bit to help the country to come through this uncertain time. By providing 100 electric cars to our NHS heroes, we hope that we will help to keep healthcare moving so that as many people as possible can receive the support they need.

The MG ZS EV seats up to five people and features 141 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque, and a 44.5-kWh battery pack, which has a range of up to 231 miles. Even before the coronavirus crisis, the car was a compelling choice and a fashionable new EV because of the UK incentives that benefit fully electric vehicles. Choosing to drive the MG ZS EV helps reduce CO2 emissions and therefore cuts harmful and extremely costly air pollution – which also saves lives. More people have died from air pollution than from COVID-19.

Other car companies helping people through these trying times include Tesla (donating 1,250 ventilators purchased for hospitals in California), Ford and GM (manufacturing ventilators, respirators, and face shields).
