The new Hypersport electric motorcycle from Canadian company Damon Motorcycles is about to revolutionize the motorcycle market with a bike that learns and reacts to your riding style over time.
In what the company calls a “Damonized” motorcycle, they can identify traffic patterns that cause accidents, anticipate potential threats from the sides, front and behind, and use shared information from other Damon bike owners to enhance safety for everyone.

Damon developed a patented 360º Advanced Warning System for Motorcycles (AWSM), that works constantly to scan the roads for potential threats. This gives the rider that extra second that could end up saving a life.
The system known as CoPilot has a variety of sensors that include multiple cameras, radar, non-visual sensors, along with AI that track the speed and direction of up to 64 moving objects around the bike at any given time. CoPilot uses ‘haptic feedback vibrations’ in the handlebars and LED warning lights on the edges of the windscreen providing riders with collision warning alerts.

Damon also designed the Hypersport to give added comfort to the rider. This is a feature the company calls “Shift,” which allows for easily changing the riding position. Damon CEO Jay Giraud recently explained the technology to Electrek:
Sportbikes are great when you’re out on the highway, but they don’t perform as well in cities. On the other hand, an upright cruiser is great for the city, but then it turns you into a giant sail when you’re on the highway.
With the push of a button, the bike’s handlebars, seat, footpegs, and windscreen all move in unison to different presets. Hypersport can go from low super-sport speed mode to relaxed full upright commuter mode, as well as the middle ground sport-touring setting. So, it’s like having three bikes in one.
Hypersport also brings a ridiculous amount of speed and power that people may not expect from an electric motorcycle, with 200hp and a top speed of 200mph (322 km/h), and goes 0-60 in under 2.5 seconds. These metrics beat out combustion engines in all areas.
The 20kWh liquid-cooled battery pack has a highway range of 200 miles (322 km) and a city range of 300 miles (483 km). As for charging, the Hypersport’s battery can charge up to 80% in just 20 minutes.
The price tag for the standard Hypersport is set to be $24,995, which comes in around $5,000 less than Harley Davidson’s LiveWire. Damon also plans on releasing 25 premium Hypersports, which will be priced around $40,000.

The Hypersport Bike recently took home the prize for “Best in Innovation” at CES, and is dubbed by Damon as “the world’s smartest, safest, and most powerful electric motorcycle.” The company has also partnered with Lloyd’s of London and McGriff Insurance Brokers on 36 and 48-month plans that will bundle payment, insurance, and connectivity to provide optimal service that’s modeled after the smartphone industry.
This is certainly an exciting time to be a motorcycle rider as the electric industry is about to get a whole lot bigger. Future concept bikes like the NAWA Racer are closer to becoming a reality and now this Damon Hypersport will give motorcycle innovators something to strive for when designing their bikes.
