A new effort, known as “Project Gregory“, is an open-source project aiming to provide free homes to the needy. Well, almost free…
The catch is that these homes will be enclosed within billboards, which will allow the homes to earn money and pay for themselves within a relatively short period of time. The idea is to provide housing for the needy, without forcing anyone to “lose” money on the project.
Of course, initial costs will need to be provided for its construction, but the tri-directional advertising should pay for itself within a year.
The program was founded in the Slovakian city of Banska Bystrica, which has electrical and water systems that can easily integrate these kinds of homes with the grid. However, the organizers say that the concept can successfully be applied anywhere.
If you have a little extra capital that you can afford to “loan” out on a pro-social investment like this: the creators welcome you to replicate their efforts in your hometown. Because although big charity efforts tend to generate the most income, motivated individuals tend to generate the most positive change.
