Safety measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 has everyone, including musicians, inside their homes, all around the world. Some music tech companies have responded by offering free versions and trials of their software.
Last week, Apple offered its Logic Pro X as a free 90-day trial in the wake of COVID-19. This week, Ableton steps up to the plate. Ableton Live 10 Suite, which is usually limited to 30-days, is now available for 90-days with all features unlocked, including saving and exporting. Now you have the software to unleash your imagination and create music while you’re at home. So, what are you waiting for?
Ableton Live provides several tutorials online, for those of you who are trying out Live 10 for their first time. Once you’ve learned the basics, there are more advanced tutorials on MusicTech.net.
Live 10 Suite Features:
- Full access to 56 audio effects;
- Access to MIDI effects;
- Thirteen instruments;
- Max for Live;
- Ability to use third-party plug-ins in VST and AU format;
- Access to download and use effects and instruments made by fellow developers and users;

Finally, the software has an entire section dedicated to freeware plug-ins and sounds, in case you feel like drifting from Ableton’s stock effects.
Ableton Live 10 has an excellent combination of performance and arrangement workflows, which has resulted in the software becoming the go-to DAW for many producers, DJ’s and artists. Some producers that use Live 10 include Cody Currie, Steve Aoki, Beardyman, Hinako Omoro, LYRE, and Youngr.
