Designers strive to make appliances that are beautiful enough to complement homes. However, the Sauberair FLAT purifier serves more aesthetic purpose than just looking ‘decor-friendly.’ With a thickness of approximately 3½ inches, the sleek purifier disguises itself as a framed piece of art hanging on the wall.
The air- purifiers come in three versions:
- FLAT ‘LITE’: that requires you to switch it on and off manually.
- FLAT ‘PLUS’: an IoT version that uses automatic air-sensors to detect and filter air when it’s quality-drops,
- and FLAT ‘BT PLUS’: which runs automatically and includes integrated Bluetooth speakers, allowing it to pump out fresh beats along with fresh air.
All versions fit into the same 3½ inch framework. There are three color options for the picture frame: white, wood grain, and black. The purifier’s air intakes and exhausts are built along the sides, keeping the front-face for your art. If you don’t like the painting provided in the frame, it can be switched out to any art piece you desire, as long as it’s measured at 594mm×841mm. The FLAT hangs on your wall like a painting, although you can also choose a standing version if you want it on a desk or the floor.
The Sauberair FLAT comes with an easy-to-use smartphone app that lets you control the device and monitor the air quality in real-time. It offers five fan-speed settings in auto, sleep, and manual modes. In auto and sleep modes, the smart purifier automatically adjusts the speed based on the air quality it detects, while the manual mode lets you choose the speed. When installing two purifiers next to each other, it can simultaneously double the filtration efficiency and coverage.
The Bluetooth mode lets you connect the purifier’s speaker to your phone, allowing you to play music, podcasts, or even your alarm. When using the Bluetooth speakers, one Sauberair FLAT can act as a right channel and the other as the left channel. Together, they deliver excellent stereo sound quality with good soundstage and detail.
The app also informs you when you need to replace the filter, a task made incredibly easy – pop the artwork off, and you’ll see the filter below. The old filter effortlessly snaps out, and a new filter can pop right in.
The purifier’s thin filter-unit contains a sub-HEPA pleated filter, designed to work three times as effectively as an ordinary HEPA filter. It catches various harmful airborne particles, including bacteria, molds, pollen, pet dander, and dust-mites, while reducing VOCs, Carbon Monoxide, and smoke in the air.
Other sleek and creative air purifiers include IKEA’s air purifying curtains that clean indoor air pollution using only light and De’Longhi’s wall-mounted radiator that doubles as an air purifier.
