New Biodegradable Eco-Material Zeoform Could Be The Future Plastic

Australian company Zeo has made a revolutionary and universal eco-friendly material that has the natural beauty of wood, the versatility of plastic and the strength of fiberglass. Behold – Zeoform. Zeoform is made from just cellulose fibers and water. It could potentially replace plastic in so many objects, including everything from construction tools, furniture, and interior design to musical instruments, jewelry, and glasses.

One of the most abundant organic materials on earth is cellulose. Cellulose is not only found in plants, such as hemp and bamboo but also in industrial, agricultural and household waste such as paper and textiles made from natural fibers.

Zeo transforms cellulose into a very strong, durable, molding material by using a patented formula that duplicates the hydroxyl bonding process used in nature. When cellulose is in contact with water the fibers bond closely together, resulting in a solid material as dense as ebony but without any additional chemicals or glues. As a bonus, Zeoform can be recycled, composted and is biodegradable. Additionally, the process of creating this material is non-toxic and uses little water and energy.

Zeoform’s applications are endless, it can be molded, pressed, sanded, sprayed, injected, laminated, painted, or combined with other materials to improve its properties.

The company has turned to crowdfunding to raise money in order to bring this incredible Zeoform material from a small pilot plant to a “Center Of Excellence.” The facility would further the innovations begun by the company by serving as a hub for bringing a variety of resources and knowledge together. Additionally, it would be the first retail center and showcase for this new eco-material.

Zeoform’s flexible properties make it a perfect alternative to plastics like fiberglass, synthetic materials, and materials that are potentially hazardous to humans. If Zeoform could become the future’s plastic, we would have a much healthier planet to live in.
