BYD started out making rechargeable batteries in 1995 that have been used in consumer electronics, transportation, and energy storage. Now the company is opening an electric forklift shipping and receiving facility in Rancho Dominguez, California.
Chinese manufacturer BYD, whose headquarters is located in Shenzhen, will use the new Southern California facility as a base of regional operations and for importing the electronic forklifts.
The new 50,000 square foot facility will showcase the new lithium iron phosphate-powered forklifts, and be complete with a demonstration area, office spaces, and a large warehouse.

As reported by CleanTechnica, BYD has showcased many of its vehicles in the U.S. and this is the next step in the company’s progression. President of BYD North America, Stella Li said;

BYD’s new lithium-powered forklifts feature environmentally friendly non-toxic ingredients, which require no water, and no ventilation. They can be used indoors or outdoors in rain or shine. They have an 18-hour run-time, recharge in just 90 minutes and come backed by a 10-year warranty on the batteries, 5-year warranty on the drive axle, and a 3-year warranty on all of the remaining parts.
The electric forklift comes with a BYD charging station making it simple to connect and charge. This allows for almost a 24 hour usage time when they’re plugged in on down times.
The New Rancho Dominguez facility is set to open sometime later this year as per reports from CleanTechnica.
