The design team at Dancer first unveiled their electric bus prototype in 2016, and now they are back with a fully functioning electric city bus that has a body made of recycled materials. The project, spearheaded by JSC ‘Vejo Projektai,’ takes standard bus construction and re-builds it from scratch to make it super-light, attractive for passengers, and environmentally friendly.
Dancer is a green solution for city transportation. It includes electric buses, full maintenance, and its own supply of green energy. It is engineered in-house from scratch by JSC ‘Vejo Projektai’, allowing them to make it the world’s lightest full-size bus with an ultra-fast charging time of only 6 minutes. The team took inspiration from yacht designs to create the curved sidewalls, which offer extra strength and are made of recycled PET bottles, while the rounded exterior provides extra maneuverability.
The bus also features:
- Rear screens to offer enhanced road safety and traffic visibility for fellow drivers or provide advertisement space.
- Rear-view cameras.
- 360-degree infrared night vision.
- An automatic ramp for disabled users.
- An entirely automated connection to the charging station.
- The driver’s cockpit has a customizable infotainment system.
- The passenger space has enormous windows, a skylight, and a minimalist and spacious interior.
- Connectivity for passengers via Wi-Fi or USB.
The new bus body structure – invented in-house in cooperation with Klaipeda University – comprises five large modules that resemble sports yachts or wind power turbines. The composite structure is made of vinyl ester resin, glass fiber, and recycled PET foam – ensuring the body of the Dancer is strong, ultra-light, and ready for recycling.
