Is the Future of the Automotive Industry 100% Electric?

Date:

There has been a noticeable public perception shift in recent years toward sustainability. In fact, a recent study found that more than a third of global consumers are willing to pay more for environmentally-friendly alternatives. One of the most notable areas has been the auto industry, with a sharp rise in electric car sales. So, will the auto industry’s future be 100% electric?

The Rise of Electric Cars

Electric cars are now a common sight on the roads. This is reflected in the sales figures, which reached record levels in December 2022, consisting of nearly a third of all vehicle sales. Experts predict that global revenue in the EV market will reach $457.60 billion this year, with an annual growth rate of 17.02% to a market volume of $858 billion in 2027. This also means that electric car sales will surpass the sale of traditional vehicles in the coming years, and soon it will be petrol and diesel cars that are a rare sight.

The Advantages of Electric Cars

There are many reasons why electric cars are increasing in popularity. As mentioned, today’s consumers are eco-conscious, and an electric vehicle is one of the most effective ways for people to reduce their environmental impact.

In addition to the environmental benefits, people are switching because you can make substantial long-term savings with electric cars. You no longer have to pay for fuel, which is also a high cost right now and another reason why so many are switching in 2023. You also do not have to pay road tax with an electric car, and they generally require less maintenance as there are fewer moving parts, which means that there is not a lot to do other than changing the car tyres when they become worn. While the cost of electric cars can be a deterrent as they are more expensive, they will cost the same as traditional vehicles in the coming years.

There are also many electric cars to choose from these days. All manufacturers are focusing on electric vehicles, which means that there are various models in all categories to choose from. As more and more electric cars become available, the price will continue to come down, and you will also start to get electric cars in the second-hand market.

It has been amazing to see the electric car revolution accelerating in recent years. Experts predict this will only continue in the coming years, with more and more motorists making the switch over the year. It is easy to see why when you consider the numerous benefits of switching and how many people are happy to pay more for environmentally-friendly products.
