The World’s First High-powered Fuel Cell Factory Opens In France

Hydrogène de France (HDF) is now a French industrial company after launching its high-powered fuel cell production plant. It recently announced how it signed a technology transfer agreement with Ballard Power Systems and commenced production.

The plant, located in Bordeaux, will be the world’s first to mass-produce high-powered PACs (over 1MW) with a production capacity of 50MW per year within five years. It will utilize the PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) technology.

The facility will manufacture an essential element of the future’s crucial hydrogen power generation infrastructures. The standardization and industrialization of these systems help to reduce the cost and significantly improve their maintenance and reliability.

HDF will produce products integrated with fuel cell stacks of the Canadian company Ballard. It’s an exclusive worldwide agreement that grants HDF the opportunity to offer high-powered fuel cells whose prices and performance are adapted to the energy market. Ballard is the most widely deployed technology of fuel cells in the world today.
