The eBussy: Ten Different Electric Vehicles In One

Date:

Carmakers have complete freedom with electric vehicles in terms of creativity. That’s because motors and batteries can be built into the floor base of the vehicle, allowing the designers to do as they please with what they make on top.

Rivian and General Motors are some of the companies that develop this floor base set up, which they call “skateboards.” These so-called skateboards allow carmakers to use the same power and drivetrain on a variety of vehicles while modifying the bodywork depending on customer requests.

One German company, called Electric Brands, is going all out with their freedom and has combined all kinds of options in one design, like a transformer. The eBussy – short for electric bus system – is a modular all-purpose electric minibus, camper, truck, and van, all in one. It’s the world’s most innovative and modular light vehicle.

Electric Brands is known for making scooters, and the eBussy is the company’s first four-wheeled vehicle. The eBussy will come in ten different variants, including a box van, a camper van, a pickup truck, and a tipper. The innovative vehicle will also include solar panels on the roof to enhance the battery charge. Maximum speeds will reach +90 km/h, so don’t expect do go super fast, but at least you could carry heavy cargo with confidence and guilt-free, knowing that you’re not harming the environment.

The company will offer the eBussy with a 10-kWh battery that can reach 124 miles (200 km) of range but has an optional 30 kWh model that boosts that range up to 370 miles (595 km). The batteries will be easily accessible, and owners will be able to hot-swap them. Drivers will be able to go to a particular station and remove their batteries and swap them for new, fully charged ones in a matter of minutes rather than hours.

The eBussy will start at around $18,273 (€15,800), with the most expensive version, the “offroad camper,” at over $33,000 (€28,000).
