Sandra Bullock Has Donated $1 Million Every Time There’s a Disaster

Date:

Sandra Bullock is one of the kindest souls in Hollywood – with a heart of gold. In 2015 the Oscars award-winning actress was chosen as People’s ‘world’s most beautiful woman’. This does not come as a surprise because the woman isn’t just beautiful from the outside, but from the inside too. Besides beauty and kindness, she has a secret life of philanthropy in addition to her on-screen talents. Sandra has a very simple idea of what beauty is – to be a good person.

Indonesian Tsunami

In 2004, after the tsunami hit Indonesia, Sandra donated $1,000,000 to the Red Cross to help aid humanitarian relief efforts there.

Hurricane Katrina

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina attacked New Orleans. Sandra then donated $1,000,000 to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts.

Elizabeth Penniman, Vice President of Communications for American Red Cross said:

This is an incredible gift. We’re so thankful. Having someone like Sandra Bullock make this kind of commitment. It helps bring people together and open their hearts and be even more generous.

Haitian Earthquake

In 2010, a monstrous earthquake destroyed Haiti. Bullock donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders emergency operation in Port-au-Prince to help the victims and rebuild the country.

Japanese Tsunami

After the earthquake and tsunami hit Tōhoku in 2011, Sandra donated $1,000,000 to the Red Cross to help aid relief efforts of the disaster.

The relief organization said:

This contribution is vitally important as the Red Cross works to provide critical assistance and essential relief items in this time of urgent need for so many people in Japan.

Hurricane Harvey

After Hurricane Harvey hit Texas in 2017, there was devastating floods throughout the Gulf Coast. Bullock donated $1,000,000 to the American Red Cross to help those affected by this tragedy. She believes that disasters such as this one should bring Americans together – united as one.

Sandra said:

There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water.

California Fires

In 2018, after the destructive California fires, Bullock donated $400,000 to the Red Cross and $100,000 to The Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC), California. The HSVC said they were ‘deeply humbled’ by the donation because it will “help the HSVC provide 24/7 care for the scores of horses, bulls, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and other pets evacuated from the fires.”

Bullock said:

I’m glad to be able to help. We’re all family in this, whether it be human, furry or feathered.

Sandra Bullock truly is an incredible woman. She inspires and reminds us all that we are all in this together and to help one another if we can. Another actor who helps people in need is Keenu Reeves. Though he is mainly helping children with cancer, it’s still heartwarming to see people in the world actually helping others.
