Stray Dog Found Guarding Kittens Off Side of The Road In Snow

Date:

Dogs have proven themselves incredible, intelligent, loving, and loyal. Recently, a stray dog in Ontario, Canada, was found keeping a litter of five abandoned kittens alive in the snow. Despite being cold herself, the dog didn’t hesitate to share her body warmth to save them. It’s unknown where the kittens came from, if their mother left them or if humans dumped them. The shelter that rescued them is overwhelmed with adoption requests from people who want the hero Serenity.

A passerby saw the dog and kittens and reported them to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue shelter in Chatham-Kent. The rescue shelter’s team quickly came to the scene and took all six animals. The animals are now well cared for at the shelter. Shelter workers called the heroic dog Serenity.

Serenity is estimated to be two years old. Shelter workers said she still has the youthful energy in her. She likes to zoom around outside and run in circles around people or objects that are with her in the shelter’s yard. Serenity was quite a jumpy dog, so they had to teach her some manners. She’s proven to be an excellent mother, a heroic character, and has good relationships with cats. However, shelter staff suggest that she would be better in a home without small children. The shelter is constantly treating fleas on dogs and cats, so they won’t be a problem for Serenity.

Serenity has already been spayed and became available for adoption on December 3, 2019. As for the kittens, they will have to wait before they get a forever home. The kittens are too young and have to get bigger and stronger. They have also received treatment for flea and worm infestations.

Many people are questioning why the shelter isn’t giving Serenity up for adoption with the five kittens she saved. The shelter staff responded that the kittens are not ready to be adopted yet, but that’s not a reason to leave Serenity waiting around for her new loving forever home.

Hopefully, they all end up in loving homes and never have to freeze again!
