This is an exciting time for those of us who love to ride motorcycles. The technology is evolving very quickly and electric motorcycles are getting more and more futuristic. Enter Blackstone Tek’s HyperTEK electric motorcycle.
The all-electric bike is designed by Pierre Terblanche, who is responsible for many of the Ducati designed bikes. After designing the HyperTEK, he declared;
“This is the best work I have ever done”.
Terblanche was recruited by Blackstone TEK founder Gary Turner, who says
“This project has defined the future of the electric motorbike”.
Turner has a background in creating carbon fiber wheels, and for this bike, he took that knowledge and created a single-piece carbon fiber monocoque frame with a billet aluminum rear subframe and single-sided swingarm.
The company used its own 17-inch Rapid Tech wheels for the HyperTEK. The front end features a triple clamp that holds the down tubes in a single carbon-fiber piece. The rear suspension is supported by a mono-shock, which is integrated inside the single-sided swingarm.
The HyperTEK has a “high power-density” radial flux motor with 105hp and 88.5lb-ft of torque. The DHX Hawk water-cooled PMS motor is powered by a 4.75 kWh battery that can be fully recharged in just 30 minutes with a fast charger. They estimate the battery has a range of around 186 miles and is uniquely housed to be more aesthetically pleasing.
The bike weighs in at 205kg with 3 adjustable seat height levels.
Special features include a Wheelie and Traction Control that allow for burnouts and wheelies as a standard feature. The HyperTEK bike also comes equipped with a built-in sound generator and the rider can rev the engine while using the clutch.
HyperTEK also comes with a cruise control feature and a hill stop feature to give the rider extra power when starting on an incline.
Another unique feature is the bike does not have an instrument display panel. Instead, the rider will be equipped with a special helmet with Instrumentation integrated in a Heads Up Display that is made by Cross of Japan.
This newly engineered BST HyperTEK all-electric is a “union between the vision of the Master designer and the skill set of the Master craftsman”, as the company’s website states. They go on to say, “you should expect nothing other than astonishing.”
For those of you wanting to own a HyperTEK, the completely handmade bikes are said to begin production in around 18 months, for the price tag of around $80,000.
This is much more expensive than the Harley LiveWire or the new Damon Hypersport Bike that recently won “Best in Innovation” at CES.
