Date:

Imagine a world where everything you do, no matter how big or small contributes to a noble cause that benefits our global well-being and more…

Who Is Tentree?

Tentree is one of the fastest-growing apparel brands who is taking a step in that direction.
Formed in 2010 this group of Canadian tree-lovers are passionate about reforestation.

Impact of ten trees

It is expanding from a small Canadian brand to a global movement, inspiring social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and worldwide community education.

For each product sold, it plants 10 trees in regions with a critical need for reforestation. To date, they have planted close to 31 million trees, and they are aiming to plant one billion trees by 2030!

Going Viral

Engaging 2.6 million Instagram followers, Tentree turns likes and clicks into trees. Earlier this year 15 million likes on an image-enabled the planting of half-a-million trees in Indonesia.

This month, they are asking followers to comment and engage with a post.

Each comment donates $0.10 to firefighters in need through the California Fire Foundation; it added up to $10,000 in a week. They will donate $20,000 to wildfire relief in Canada and the United States, and in a recent update mention that an additional $10,000 will go to the Global Forest Generation to help plant trees in the Amazon Rainforest.

The same post now has more than 475,000 comments.

How It Works

Upon purchasing a Tentree product, you receive a unique tree code. With this tree code, you decide how you want to make your impact, along with the species of trees you want to be planted – these choices determine where the trees get planted.

Once they plant the trees, the tree registry program allows customers to track, monitor and learn more about the social and environmental impact the trees are making.

“It has always been our goal to bring the customer closer to their impact,” added Emsley. “Their purchase allows us to plant trees, provide jobs, and help an incredible number of people. We want every customer to feel emotionally connected to their impact.”

Beyond making comfortable, wear-anywhere clothes, Tentree has a large online community built on an easygoing, frictionless love of nature.

After posting a picture of a tiny tree with a promise of planting 500,000 trees for 5 million likes, the post became the third most-liked Instagram post of all time!

For Tentree co-founder Derrick Emsley, it all comes down to authenticity.

“Authenticity is important to us because it is who we are,” Emsley told Business Insider. “We started a tree-planting company that sells apparel, not the other way around.”

And more than immaterial virtue signaling, it’s the actions of Tentree that win over customers.
