Korean automaker Hyundai is producing a range of new battery-electric cars under Ioniq branding, and they are beautiful. The new electric vehicles have detailed rims and futuristic interior. In 2016, the company first introduced the Ioniq name with a plug-in hybrid, battery electric vehicle (BEV) flavors, and a subcompact that comes in hybrid.

Now, the company has announced that in early 2021 those cars will be joined by the Ioniq 5, a midsize BEV crossover, which is based on a 2019 concept called 45. Then, Ioniq will launch the Ioniq 6 in 2022. The Ioniq 6 is an electric sedan based on the Prophecy concept car that was presented at the start of this year. Lastly, a larger SUV called Ioniq 7 will be released in early 2024.

Wonhong Cho, the executive vice president at Hyundai Motor Company, said:
The Ioniq brand will change the paradigm of EV customer experience. With a new emphasis on connected living, we will offer electrified experiences integral to an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Hyundai is developing a new platform called the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which will be highly flexible in regards to interior design and body style. Ioniq’s first three BEVs will be produced on E-GMP.
By 2025, Hyundai Motor Group, which includes Genisis and Kia, plans to sell over 500,000 hydrogen fuel cell EVs and one million BEVs per year. Therefore, we can expect to see these cars built in significant volumes.
