The Rivian R1T is among the most anticipated vehicles to launch next year, so the company had to tease the crowd with a fun demonstration! Rivian took its R1T electric pickup truck into the woods for a company event and used it to power the party – lighting 20,000 Christmas lights! A single pickup lit up the night for families at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center, giving them a nice holiday treat.

Rivian tweeted:

Underneath 20,000 lights in the middle of the woods—all powered by a single outlet in the R1T—we invited our families in Normal out to see what we’ve been building. Special thanks to our hosts at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center. Happy holidays everyone.

Some regard the R1T as the “normal” truck option for an electric pickup over Tesla’s Cybertruck. And finally, Rivian unveiled the final production specs, price, and features for the vehicle ahead of its 2021 launch.

Among the features includes power outlets in the bed of the truck. The convenient component is what the company used to power all the lights in the middle of nowhere, but it can also be super useful for people camping or workers who need to plug in some power tools.

Rivian’s holiday surprise showed the potential for the R1T pickup truck. This spectacle links to other recent news that Rivian is setting up an EV charging network with charging points at various destinations in nature. They are giving their customer base a taste of what they can do with the car.

And soon, with charging stations at hiking and mountain trails, people can even power whatever they need till the battery dies and then let the truck charge back up while they enjoy nature. Then once juiced up, they can take the off-roading beast for a joy ride.

Word has it that the R1T and R1S Launch Edition to be released next year are sold out, but you can order the “Explorer” version coming in 2022 for a starting price of $67,500. There will be a selection of battery options down the line, but for now, all the vehicles will be available with Rivian’s mid-tier battery pack that provides a range of more than 300 miles. A 400+ mile variant of the R1T will be available in 2022.

SUVs are the biggest emitters after the energy industry, so companies like Rivian introducing fully-electric versions are an excellent move for the environment.
